::Why
chose Cosmetic Acupuncture
over
Botox injections?
Cosmetic
Acupuncture is natural, safe, and less costly than Botox Injections.
Botox is a toxin (Clostridium bacteria botulinum)
that causes muscle weakness or paralysis. It blocks a chemical
release from the nerve to the muscle, which prevents the muscle from
contracting.
Acupuncture has been safely used for over 5000
years. Botox has been on the market since 1991 when it was approved
for use in ophthalmology and neurology.
It was approved by the FDA
for cosmetic purposes in April 2002. The long term effects of Botox
injections are not well known.
"Botox is a trade name for "botulinum
toxin A". In this way, Botox is related to botulism.
"Botulism" is a form of food poisoning that occurs when
someone eats something containing a neurotoxin produced by the
bacterium "Clostridium botulinum".
Botulinum toxin A is
one of the neurotoxins produced by Clostridium botulinum."
American Academy of Dermatology
"When Botox -- botulinum toxin A -- is
injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes, for instance, those
muscles can not "scrunch up" for a period of time.
They
are paralyzed. So the wrinkles in that area, often referred to as
"crow's-feet," temporarily go away."
