Differentiation & Treatment

CHF due to Heart Qi Deficiency with retention of Blood Stasis

Typical symptoms

  • Palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath
  • Fatigue, tired, poor memory & concentrations
  • Sharp pain in chest, radiates to back around BL 14, 15
  • Symptoms are at chest and above
  • Tongue body is pale to pale purple, thin white coat
  • Pulse is hesitant but without strength

  • Tonify Heart Qi, remove Blood stagnation

CHF due to Kidney & Heart Yang Deficiency with retention of water

Typical Symptoms

  • Palpitations, bradycardia, cold extremities, palm size cold spot between the scapula
  • Profuse, frequent, clear urine or incontinence, could be different urine
  • Impotence, edema in whole body, especially lower extremities, worse at end of day
  • Tongue body is swollen with teeth marks, wet or moist coat
  • Pulse is deep, slow and weak, hidden pulse, weaker on right rear position
