Frequently asked questions about Chinese Healing Herbs:

What are the benefits of Chinese healing herbs?

The raw, or bulk, herbs have been used in natural medicine for thousands of years.

For most patients, bulk herbs are better absorbed & more potent than any other form of herbal preparation.

How will the herbs taste?

The flavor of Chinese herbs ranges from a strong earthy one to a light, somewhat sweet flavor.

Please do NOT add anything to the herbs to improve the taste as it will change the quality of the herbs & lessen their intended effect.

You may eat a few raisins or place a few drops of lemon juice on the tongue after drinking the herbs.

If you find the taste to be a major deterrent to taking your herbs, please contact your practitioner.

Do I need a special pot to cook the herbs?

- Recommended pots in which to cook herbs are glass, pottery, or porcelain.

Metal pots, especially aluminum, can interact with the herbs & should not be used.

If you have an electric range & want to use a clay pot, please use a diffuser.

If you have a computerized range, please check your owner’s manual before using a clay pot or diffuser. White Crane Herbal Medicine sells traditional clay herbal pots & diffusers.

When should I feel the effect of the herbs?

Chinese bulk herbs are very strong. Sometimes their effects are felt immediately.

For chronic conditions, the effects may take longer.

Your practitioner will be able to give you information about when to expect an improvement in your condition.

What about side effects?

Occasionally people do experience side effects with Chinese

herbs, such as nausea, irritability, diarrhea, headaches, or

      abdominal discomfort or distention.

In the rare event that you experience one of these side effects,

       call your practitioner for instructions.

The formula can be changed to mitigate or eliminate any

       unpleasant side effects.
